So I pulled quite the unhinged move yesterday, announcing a Substack and all that. I also ate primarily just beef and rice, or “monster mash” as our household affectionately calls it. Again, it was an incredibly unhinged 24 hours.
I figured that before the weekend, I might take the opportunity to further clarify what kind of material you ought to expect from this newsletter. All things considered, I consider this a fair proposition. Let’s dive in.
Item 1: Weekly Essays (Long Form)
I am quite an enthusiast of the format and find myself challenged and delighted by the work. We will start with a weekly read.
Item 2: Weekly Essays (Short Form)
I told you, I am quite the enthusiast of the essay. What I’m excited about is the idea that I can take my time truly crafting one piece of writing, and then dabble here and there with other more succinct musings. We can consider these traditional blog posts.
Item 3: Annotated Song Lyrics
An opportunity to unpack the work and my thought process behind certain lyrics.
Item 4: Art
She needs a home baby. And what better place than the cold, cold internet?
Item 5: Unreleased Demos
Stoked about this one. There is plenty of unreleased material that I have been sitting on over the years that I haven’t been able to craft into an official release (yet?), but there’s a lot that I’m proud of. And there are some I’d like to share with you. The first of these will be for all who find themselves on this page, then ultimately a tiered exclusive.
The above list is by no means the extent of what I intend to offer here, but at the very least, it hopefully provides an initial framework and clarity for you, the reader. And if not… just stick around and see what we’re all about here at The Skeptic Optimist.
